Weighted Lap Blankets

Posted by Jack Wood on

Weighted lap pads are good for tactile defensiveness, proprioceptive input, and deep pressure for calming the nervous system. They can also improve your child's body awareness and prevents sensory meltdowns, tantrums and aggression.

The pressure of weighted Lap Blankets puts your autonomic nervous system into “rest” mode, reducing some of the symptoms of anxiety, such as a quickened heart rate or breathing. This can provide an overall sense of calm.

A good rule of thumb is to have a lap pad that is no more than 10% of your body weight.
